Or perhaps we were at the mercy of other people’s bad decisions. Perhaps we were overly compulsive and irresponsible. Our dreams may have come to an end for many reasons. Though it cost all you have, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7). Tip #4) Reassess your priorities “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Rather, wise friends close their mouths to open their ears and hearts listening to the painful outpouring of your heart in a safe place. This isn’t necessarily a time for them to offer countless words of advice that you may not be able to contain anyway. Many times they may feel overwhelmed at your distress and their inability to make everything alright for you. Most of your close family and friends will have very little to say. Tip #3) Communicate with close family and friends “That I may come to you with joy, by God’s will, and in your company be refreshed” (Romans 15:32). He transfers to each of His children a spiritual drive towards finishing the race. However, our God never stops provoking our hearts towards purpose. In our human frailness, we run out of dreams. There’s refreshing power from the Spirit of God when we allow our vulnerability to be exposed. He allowed His human emotions to pour out in the form of tears and grief. It’s healthy to cry, to mourn, or to shout out if necessary, “Life’s unfair!” Jesus cried and He was God in the flesh. However, some unforeseen event can trigger deep sadness and weariness that will eventually stop them in their tracks. Some people attempt to shrug off their disappointment and pretend that it never happened. In your mind, hold up your failed dream to God and place it at the foot of the cross-trusting in Him to replenish your brokenness. Even in this, God is in control and you can have hope in the midst of it. Yet there’s nothing that can happen to you unless God allows it. This can be the loneliest period of time because no one can really feel your pain unless they’ve gone through a heartbreaking loss.

It’s a crushing experience to lose your heart’s desire. Tip #1) Surrender your failed dreams to God “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7, NKJV). Meditate on the following Bible based tips to find your peace and direction when your dreams fail. However being a Christian guarantees a life that is marked by the presence and hand of God in everything that you do, everything that you are exposed to, and every dream that has failed. In spite of our best efforts: marriages fail, companies scale down, the economy drops, children become prodigals, sickness and disease take lives or stifle productivity, etc…īeing a believer in Christ Jesus doesn’t wrap you in a bubble so that the pains and tragedies of life can’t touch you or your family. However, life doesn’t always turn out like we dreamed. We can always ask God for wisdom (James 1:5) when examining a dream. Most people believe that by working really hard, they will succeed in life and all their dreams will come true. The Bible is our standard for truth and the revelation that God has given. If you think you have had a prophetic dream or have heard a firsthand story from another person who has had a prophetic dream, the first question to ask is “is this dream from God?” Compare the content of the dream and its message to the Scriptures if anything seems to contradict God’s words or His nature, it is wise to disregard the dream-even if it comes true.

But none of these are verifiable to the degree that we can say “yes, God definitely gives prophetic dreams today.” A wide variety of spiritual or prophetic dreams are reported by a wide variety of Christians in many countries. God may sometimes use dreams to guide people to places where they can hear the gospel and be saved. There are many reports of prophetic dreams, especially in areas where access to the Bible and the gospel are limited. It would be impossible to say, definitively, whether or not God gives prophetic dreams to people today. Daniel was careful to give praise to God, who alone gives the wisdom to interpret such dreams (Daniel 2:20–23). The definition of a prophetic dream might be something like this: a supernatural night vision that contains foresight. Other times, no interpretation was necessary as God spoke clearly to the dreamer, as in the story of Abimelech and Abraham’s wife (Genesis 20:1–6).

Sometimes the dreams required interpretation, as with Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel 2. Prophetic dreams occur many times in the Bible and are experienced by all sorts of people, including prophets (Daniel 7:1), ungodly kings (Daniel 2), and average men (Genesis 31:24).
